Yesterday was my very first ever experience with a Twitter troll. He goes by the name "Wags@friarfan480" and, on August 26th, he posted "Had no idea trolling was this easy." He admitted he is a troll, so it's clear I'm not making this up or misconstruing his intent. I read a few streams between this dude and other X posters that demonstrated how proud this individual is in his apparent need to frustrate and intimidate others.
Twitter, now "X", is a social media platform that people can use to express their personal opinions about social, political, and economic issues currently in the forefront of American news. We aren't just dwellers here in the US much like illegal immigrants. We are citizens. And as citizens, we not only have the right to express our opinions about matters that affect our towns, states, and country at large, we also have a civic duty to do so.
Mr. Wags@friarfan480 seems to think that most posted opinions I personally find interesting and elucidating to be "ridiculous." In fact, "fucking ridiculous." It's clear this individual doesn't like liberals, as they seem to be the only posters he's attacking. I'm disturbed by this, not so much because it's denigrating but because he offers no counterpoint to back up his repetitive claim said comments are "fucking ridiculous." He just says it. Like whatever he says is true and valuable to life on earth.
I've scrolled through his posts and have found nothing profound to make me respect his right to participate in what should be intellectual discourse. It seems as though he has nothing better to do with his time than sit on X and troll people he doesn't agree with. He thinks it funny when they become disturbed by his rambling illogic. Who does this remind you of? I'll say it: Donald Trump.
I merely responded to a few posts by other individuals regarding the debate surrounding Tim Walz's dog Scout. Suddenly, Wags@friarfan480 pops up out of nowhere and begins making personal attacks against me. He had obviously looked at my profile and went into my Wix account in order to do so. Who does this? His own profile indicates he is a "strong advocate of commonsense." What in the world does that mean? How commonsensical is it to enjoy being rude and obnoxious?
I think his profile should describe him as a "profligate asshole who has no respect for others' rights to speak their mind." I have a Masters in Communication Studies and completed my thesis on bullying. Wags@friarfan480 is a bully, by my educated estimation.
My troll made a lot of disparaging comments about my blogsite based on face value alone. He also made rude remarks about my books. I asked my troll to use his energy and distinctive lack of intelligence to help me sell said "fantasies", but I haven't heard from him since. Ask a bully to do anything kind or useful and they run for cover.
I don't know that I'm going to keep this blogsite. He's right. It sucks butt. But I am still writing fiction novels because I believe in the beauty and value of my stories and shall continue to write them regardless of the fact that although I'm selling them through Amazon, I'm not Melania Trump. Her vacuous autobiography will sell only by virtue of her name and notoriety. As of yet, I have neither.
As for Wags@friarfan480, you may go to that far-right Heaven from which Donald Trump descended long ago to save our country and our souls. I have a feeling it gets a little warm there, though.
